This is a story of a DUFFLER owner who visited the Deer Valley Resort in Utah, one of the great destinations for skiing. The DUFFLER One travel bag stands snow and low temperatures. More importantly, as a carry on bag, it is a great complement to your ski luggage.
The Deer Valley Resort has great advertising and is definitely a world class ski destination (2002 Winter Olympics). It is a few minutes’ drive from Park City which has all the shopping and entertainment options. Deer valley is more of a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Park City.
This is one of the best overall ski resorts that I have skied. I went with my sweetie in March 2016, we both loved it. It has enough groomed intermediate ski runs for the wife and lots of great other terrain for me, an advanced/expert skier. The level of customer service is only equaled by Beaver Creek, all the resorts around Lake Tahoe could use this ski resort as an example. For instance, there are actually lift line employees who direct traffic and get skiers into the correct lines instead of letting a free for all happen in the lift lines. The employees here really enjoy their jobs and it shows their kindness, friendliness and helpfulness. I was very impressed with the quality of the runs and the length of the runs, much longer than the average ski resort runs.
There are a couple of runs that I know only the best of the best could ski flawlessly. One is a double stager, with a 30 foot drop onto a 25 foot drop after dropping the cornice, as there isn't much of a run out. I challenge anyone to find steeper groomed runs this side of Beaver Creek and Sun Valley.
There are places where they will keep your skis overnight, so that one doesn't have to bring your skis back to your hotel/condo, very convenient. The only thing that I am critical of is the on-mountain food, maybe it was the altitude, as I live 210 feet above sea level, however, I tried everything that my research told me to try and I came away very unimpressed given how much hype and awards this place has for their food and beverage program.
However, the whole skier experience was fantastic, with excellent ski in-ski out accommodations. Sweetie and I will be back to give it another go as she really enjoyed it and I could just crush this terrain, was clocked at over 60 mph on a groomed run. This place will let you rip it if there aren't too many other people around, try doing that at Tahoe. Almost forgot, the snow here is phenomenal, easily the best snow I have skied on, in and over. Only comparison is Jackson Hole/Grand Targhee, which I got to ski during a good pounding of snow.
